Child Psychotherapy

Worried about your child…?

Is your child’s behavior hard to understand…?

When your child is suffering, the whole family suffers. You long to see your child enjoy family gatherings, school activities, maybe music lessons, and even homework. You long for a day when your child wakes up without those chronic stomachaches, dresses for school without incident and eats breakfast anticipating the events of the day. Your child wants and deserves to be happy, to feel proud of herself, to know she fits and holds her own place in her world, and to know her value as a person.

It may seem impossible at times that she’ll ever have upbeat, loving relationships with her family, friends, or teachers. That she’ll ever feel good about who she is and where she’s going.

If any of this sounds familiar, I can help.

Problems like these can occur with either gender, and at any age. As I build a relationship with your child in a therapeutic setting, she’ll learn better skills for problem solving. Through play therapy, she can then learn to apply the skills she learns to her other relationships, and with time will feel success in her interactions and bonds with others.

Regular sessions with parents are an important component of your child’s therapy. In order to maximize the effectiveness of your child’s treatment,  you’ll learn input and strategies to use at home to increase  your child’s growth process.

Our collaborative work will help her make the connection between her thoughts and her emotions, and the effect they have on her body.  I’ll also confer with you and other significant people in her life, to help her create real changes that will ease family tensions and strengthen the bonds that tie her family together.

The children I work with have a variety of issues such as:

  • speech and language
  • sensory integration
  • auditory processing delays
  • learning disabilities
  • anxiety
  • depression
  • behavioral disorders
  • school phobia
  • Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder
  • Asperger’s and non-verbal learning disorders
  • disordered eating

I enjoy my work with children and have very rewarding outcomes. I look forward to meeting you and your child. By working together, we can help her make real changes in her life.
